In the traditional grammar textbook, it is shown that there are several sequences of tenses in grammatical combinations (e.g. simple past WHEN simple past, etc.). In fact, I think it is difficult to believe in this instruction (maybe too general, not specific, not authentic, etc.). I have a second thought about how to make this lesson more specific and more authentic than instructions in textbooks.

I employed videos cut from US-UK TV shows/movies to demonstrate a lot of sequences of tenses (more specific and more authentic). Then, I divided students into several pairs/small groups to discuss about how to combine tenses. After that, I would analyse the use of sequences of tenses in videos for them.

They would be interested in my authentic videos, and in fact, in a grammar lesson.

To integrate teaching grammar and language skills, you should start by focusing on the basics. Begin by introducing basic grammar concepts such as parts of speech, sentence structure, and how to construct different types of sentences. Once students have a solid foundation in grammar, you can then move on to more complex topics like punctuation, correct usage of adjectives and adverbs, and other aspects of the English language. Additionally, you should provide opportunities for students to practice their newly acquired skills – this can be done through activities such as writing in a journal, reading and responding to passages, or completing language-related exercises. Finally, it is important to monitor student progress to ensure that they are making adequate progress.

There has been a lot of progress in English language teaching since the introduction of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). This progress has been reflected in the teaching of the four skills, which has moved from the presentation, practice and production (PPP) to pre-, while- and post-stages. However, teaching grammar has lagged behind the integration of pre, while and post stages. Although grammar instruction has recently been associated with contextual teaching (Clandfield, nd; Mora, 2003; Tennant, nd; Weaver 1996), we need to go beyond this movement to bring grammar instruction fully to life and to make it purposeful and communicative.

The application of pre-, while- and post-stages into teaching grammar are taught in my classes, following the steps: pre – grammar, while grammar, post grammar, role pay, wwriting

      Role-play

The teacher forms pairs of students and gives a role play to each student. The role playing students are supposed to be old friends meeting after a long time. They are supposed to communicate and note the differences in each using either their imagination or the role play cues.

      Writing

The teacher asks students to write a story about the following topic for the school magazine.

Imagine that you have been asleep from 2007 till 2050. You have just woken up to be shocked about everything around you. Compare your old and new lives and write your story using "used to".

A bit of segregation is needed. Grammar concepts should be introduced first, since it doesn't require language specific elements, then you can continue on with integration of all subjects, which ultimately rely on grammar. However, according to CLT, within the time frame of a language lesson, the time teachers spend introducing grammar concepts should always be less than the time spent on letting students produce output from the grammar learned. We teachers should never lead students into being bombarded with grammar but even in college they can't express themselves.

Hello, nice to meet everyone here!

Here are my responses for the questions:

          1. What questions about integrating grammar and skills teaching might he/she have?

I think he/ she might have some questions such as what is integrating grammar and skills teaching? how do we apply it to teach grammar to students effectively? He/she might have these questions if they often teach grammar in the traditional way (show students grammar's structure, explain usage, then do exercises, etc.)

          2. What do you think she/he may want to know about this topic?

she/ he may want to know about textbooks regarding integrating grammar and skills teaching to reference; listening to actual experiences from teachers who have been integrating grammar and skills teaching; how to find more materials or resources to teach grammar and language skills in context so that they can get students' attention and teach grammar communicatively. Besides, he/she may want to know which level they can apply to integrate grammar and language skills teaching.

          3. How would you explain to her /him how to integrate teaching grammar and language skills?

if I was a teacher who have been integrating grammar and skills teaching, I would explain to her / him by giving them actual examples from my experience so that they could know what integrating grammar and language skills teaching was and how I applied it to teach my students, how to get materials or sources to plan activities (authentic videos, magazine, websites, etc.) to teach grammar in context effectively. I would also share about issues I met and what the advantages and disadvantages of integrating grammar and language skills were so that they could have a general view and ideas when they want to apply it to teach to their students.

This is my oppion for this situation

-What questions about integrating grammar and skills teaching might he/she have?

I think he/ she might have some questions such as what is integrating grammar ? and What’s the skills teaching? how do we apply it in right context? How to distinguish integrating grammar and skills teaching

-What do you think she/he may want to know about this topic?

she/ he may want to understand regarding integrating grammar and skills teaching to reference; and how to use it effectively while learning English.

                - How would you explain to her /him how to integrate teaching grammar and language skills?

I would explain to her / him by giving them actual examples from different materials or sources to plan activities (authentic videos, magazine, websites, etc.) to teach grammar in context effectively. I would also give them some practice that they can use to guess the advantages and disadvantages of this approach to help them understand better.

                  1. My colleagues might ask: How can we organize an integrated-skill lesson plan effectively, especially in terms of time? How can we know what really triggers students' engagement? How to balance between communicative competence, students' excitement vs exam requirements?

2.They may want to know how to design a lesson plan applying SARS.

                  3. Explain by demonstrating. I would employ what I've learned so far and let them see as a reference.

Some of my fellow just give simple explanation  with not much information or instruction  , most of my student just know how to do grammar exercise without understaning anything

I think I will introduce this coure about how to teach grammar , integrate grammar naturally with other skills : speaking. listening, writing , reading  and She/He may want to know how to make grammar lesson not tiring, boring .

I wil set real life context in  grammar lesson so that he/she can catch my idea.
